Things of little importance that I find interesting:
On the cover of the cycling magazine, Velo News, there's a full body shot of professional cyclist Andy Schleck. He rides for a Swiss company called Saxo Bank. He and his brother Frank are big time players in the Tour de France. The interesting thing is at the bottom of his cycling uniform, or kit, as it's called in Europe, is a band on the bottom of his shorts that says Lululemon. Who'd a thunk!
In the latest edition of the magazine "Men's Journal," there's an interesting article written about barefoot running. There has been a great deal made on this supposed craze. If you've been around CrossFit, you know that there have been a lot of athletes wearing Vibram Five Fingers as part of their regular workout gear. Me included. In this article, the author writes about the pros and cons to long distance running barefoot. Nothing new there. Along with the article there is a rating of 3 of the best shoes to wear that are as close to running barefoot as possible without actually being barefoot. There's the Nike Free, another brand I don't recognize and the Vibram's shoe. The cool thing is, they came out with a new model that is designed for running. It has a deeper heel cup, reinforced toe protection and arch support. My guess is, you'll probably see a lot more of these at your local 5K and CrossFit gym, for that matter.
