Pop!

Today, I decided to go to the track and get some interval training in by way of 8 X 220 with 45 second rests. This took place at a local community college track at 4:00 in the afternoon. I wanted to simulate working out in the afternoon heat, but Mother Nature didn't want to cooperate with me. The weather was a few degrees cooler than it had been the previous few days. It was still warm enough.
Newman and I started with the idea of running the 220's in :35 to :40 clips. The first one was the fastest, as is usually the case. The rest interval was :45. This lead to the second repeat in :37. The 3rd was the slowest, in :40. So, we increased the rest to :60 to allow for more recovery. The rest of the repeats stayed in the :37 time frame. All except the 8th, where coming around the final turn, I felt a "pop" in my left hamstring. I've pulled that hamstring in the past and this one doesn't feel as bad as the time before. I'm hoping that it will just be a minor adjustment in the next few days to let the healing process take hold and it will be ready for action.
We finished with a double under/burpee chaser.

Results:
Newman 6:40
Paul 6:47

  1. That was some great shit Pablo. Pleasantly uncomfortable for the both of us. Both sore and stiff and in a different element. That's the kind of extra work that's going to go a long way brother. We just gotta stay healthy!!!
