2010 CrossFit Games are in the books.

Wow! What a weekend. What an experience. The event was nothing short of phenomenal. The workouts that the Individual athletes had to do were nothing short of creative, brilliant and a true test of fitness. It was great meeting all those incredible athletes. All the selfless volunteers, judges and HQ staff should be given a HUGE pat on the back. The Home Depot Center was a top notch facility to hold the Games and there will never be going back to Aromas.
My competitive experience could have been a little better, but the dice that were rolled did not land in my favor. Deadlifts are not my strength and Fran is a workout that I really hate. I can do OK in those workouts, but not enough to excel and be victorious. I'm not making excuses, Brian and Joel are great athletes and deserve to be #1 and #2. I just had higher expectations for my self. I'll use this as fuel to get ready for next year's event. I'm optimistic that the workouts they'll have in store for us next year will be a little more skill intensive and not just benchmark workouts.
Overall, I want to thank CrossFit for allowing a platform in which I could compete in on such a high level. Thank you Greg Glassman. Thank you Dave Castro for a great weekend. Your vision is becoming more of a reality than I'm sure you were anticipating. CrossFit is the ultimate proving ground for what human performance is capable of. The Games is the vehicle to cement the proof.
The next chapter is on the way...

  1. I already said this, but it belongs here as well. I am so very happy I was able to experience the weekend with you and the gang Paul. While I am both amazed and proud of what you accomplished at the 2010 CrossFit Games, I am even more amazed and proud of the man that you are and the manner in which you comport yourself every day. Your training discipline is inspiring, and your nutritional discipline is just plain amazing. You are a natural-born coach and leader, and it has been a privilege to have you as my coach, athletic mentor and very good friend over the past three years. You have helped me to better my life in so very many ways. Thank you.

If there is a person that has not become better by knowing you and being a part of your world, then they simply are not relevant. Congratulations on an amazing performance. I look forward to watching you compete again in 2011.

    Warmest regards,

    Tony
