Cardio Day

Went for a 33 mile bike ride from my house down to the beach to check the surf. Along the way, I stopped to look for Tyler, Kristi and Francisco, who were all doing the Rock and Roll Marathon today. Although I did recognize a few people running, I never spotted those guys. Sorry kids.

The ride was nice and easy, and the day was BEAUTIFUL. I never really worked too hard, except for the hill coming out of Mission Valley heading up to San Diego State. By that time, it was getting warmer and warmer. The ride took a little over 2 hours, mostly due to the closing of Friars Road by Fashion Valley. I've ridden along the marathon route before, but I think the organizers have really gotten their act together. The whole route, at least the route I saw, was very well organized with buses, UPS trucks and aid stations a plenty. They were busing family and friends. The UPS trucks were bringing the personal belongings from the start to the finish line for the athletes. Aid stations were well stocked and traffic was really not an issue. This can't be bad for our city's economy.
